Country Smoked BBQ Beans

What tastes better than homemade baked beans, hot off the Barbecue grill? The lightly smoked flavor that permeates the beans as they are slowly simmered over the coals makes them extra special. Try this recipe and you'll have a winning side-dish at your next picnic or tailgating party. -BBQ P{it Boys

Recipe:
5 one lb. cans of white or kidney beans
1/4lb. thick-cut bacon
1/4 cup maple syrup
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup chopped onion
1/4 cup molasses
1/4 cup ketchup,
1/4 cup cider vinegar
4 tbs prepared mustard

Mix ingredients in a black iron pan and then simmer in a covered grill for about an hour, or until the excess liquid simmers off. Move the pan to indirect heat (opposite the coals) and then cover the grill for an additional hour, or until the beans are just the way you like to eat them.
